Site-Specific Muster Points
Every LEO job site has a designated muster point established before work begins. Muster points are posted on the Site Safety Plan at the job trailer entrance. Review the muster point location during your first site orientation and verify it at the start of each shift. Muster points must be outside the hazard zone and accessible to emergency vehicles.
Evacuation Triggers
Evacuate when: fire alarm activates, site supervisor or safety officer orders evacuation, explosion occurs, hazardous material release is detected, structural failure is suspected, or severe weather warning is issued. Do not wait to confirm the emergency — evacuate immediately when the signal is given.
Personnel Accountability
At the muster point: the crew foreman takes a headcount using the crew sign-in sheet. Report your presence to your foreman immediately upon arrival. If someone is missing: report to the superintendent immediately — do not re-enter to search. Emergency response personnel will conduct search and rescue. All-clear is given ONLY by the site safety officer or incident commander.
Drills & Training
LEO conducts evacuation drills at each new site and periodically during long-duration projects. Participate in all drills — treat them as real events. Know your role: foremen = accountability, safety officer = coordination with emergency services, all workers = evacuate and report. A drill that goes smoothly saves lives when it counts.
